DESCRIPTION:When: Monday-September 8th\, Wednesday-September 10th\, Thursday-September 11th\, Wednesday-September 17th and Thursday-September 18\, 2025  8am-5pm \nCost: $675 per student \nConnecticut Department of Public Health Approved Lead Initial Course: \nLead Supervisor courses offered at Chem Scope are CT DPH Approved under 20-478-1 through 3. Since Connecticut is an EPA authorized state\, the course are also EPA Accredited under EPA CFR 40 745.226 and meet requirements of OSHA 1926.62. Training is accepted in other states. Check with individual states for any new requirements and added requirements for licensing or certification. Students who successfully complete the initial course and pass a third party federal exam become eligible to be certified by DPH in this discipline. They have to meet state requirements\, submit a fee and an application. Students must have annual refresher before getting their certification renewed. \nLead Supervisor Initial Training Description: \nThe course includes lectures\, demonstrations\, at least eight hours of hands-on training\, a hands on skills assessment\, and a written examination. The course includes instruction on: \nBackground information on lead and its adverse health effects.\nBackground information on federal\, state\, and local regulations and guidance that pertains to lead- based paint abatement.\nLegal and insurance issues relating to lead-based paint abatement.\nDevelopment of preabatement work plan\nHazard recognition and control\nRespiratory protection and protective clothing\nLead paint abatement or lead hazard reduction including prohibited methods\nInterior dust abatement/cleanup or lead hazard reduction\nSoil and exterior dust abatement or lead hazard reduction\nClearance standards and testing\nCleanup and Waste disposal\nCommunity relations process\nCost estimation\nRecordkeeping\nRole and responsibilities of a supervisor.\nLiability and insurance issues relating to lead-based paint abatement\nRisk assessment and inspection report interpretation\nDevelopment and implementation of an occupant protection plan and abatement report \n\nCOVID-19\nPersons with symptoms of or a current positive test for COVID-19 may not enter the Chem Scope\, Inc. training center. \n \nOur training center policy is to follow the current CDC guidance found at cdc.gov/coronavirus along with any state or local guidance applicable to in-person training sessions.\nCancellation policy\nClass sizes are restricted. In order to provide training to people on waiting lists\, we require at least 1 business day (24 hour) notification that a student will not attend a class. DESCRIPTION:Cost: $150 \nDPH APPROVED VIRTUAL ASBESTOS REFRESHER COURSE: \nIf a student goes passed the last refresher due date by one day\, the student cannot work in the discipline. Failure to take a refresher for 2 years requires the student to take the initial course again.  \nGeneral Description: \nAsbestos Inspector courses offered at Chem Scope are CT DPH approved and meet MAP requirements of AHERA\, ASHARA\, NESHAP\, CONES and OSHA. Students who successfully complete the initial course become EPA accredited in the particular discipline and are eligible for licensing in CT and the CONES states. \nRefresher courses are required annually in each discipline for which the student is accredited.  Refresher training for inspectors is 1/2 a day.  The inspectors and inspector / management planners must take the courses separately. All refresher courses are separate and distinct courses and not combined with any other training during the period of the refresher course. \nRefresher training includes a review and discussion of changes in and interpretation of applicable state and federal laws\, regulations\, policies and guidelines\, developments or changes in state-of-the art procedures and equipment and a review of key areas of initial training specific to each discipline.  \nVerification of accreditation information: \nTraining providers of refresher courses must confirm that their students possess valid accreditation before granting course admission. \nVirtual Training Requirements \nRequirements for attending virtual training include (1) a government-issued photo ID\, (2) a PC or Mac computer\, (3) a stable internet connection\, (4) a functioning webcam\, (5) a functioning keyboard\, and (6) a functioning mouse. Tablets will not be supported. A functional headset with microphone will be recommended. Each student must be able to download and use the most recent version of Zoom. Students must be able to type to participate in worksheet-based online hands-on activities\, or they must be able to print the worksheet\, answer by writing\, and send a picture to the instructor. \nScreenshots will be taken throughout the class to document that each student is present for the entire course. Students must arrive on time to class (typically\, 8:00 am EST). Students are also encouraged to be present in the class 30 to 15 minutes early to allow for troubleshooting. \nMany of our students will be new to virtual training.
