DESCRIPTION:2-Day Class: Friday-September 27th and Tuesday\, October 1st\, 2024\,  8am-5pm. \nCost: $600 \nPrerequisite: 24-hour Lead Inspector Course from a CT DPH approved training provider. \nLEAD RISK ASSESSOR DESCRIPTION:\nLead Risk Assessor courses offered at Chem Scope are CT DPH Approved under 20-478 and are also EPA Accredited under EPA CFR 40 745.226. Training may be accepted in other states. Check with individual states for any new requirements and added requirements for licensing or certification. Students who successfully complete the initial course become eligible to be certified by DPH in the discipline. They have to meet State requirements\, submit a fee and an application. \nAnnual state licensing is required for private industry lead inspector-risk assessors and lead consultant companies in most states. DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE: Attendee must be a Lead Risk Assessor to enroll in this class.  If you are a Lead Inspector only\, you must take the Lead Inspector Refresher. The Lead Inspector Refresher and Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor Refresher are not interchangeable. \nCost: $165 \nDPH APPROVED LEAD REFRESHER COURSE: \nRefresher training is required annually under typical circumstances. If the student goes past the past refresher due date by one day\, the student cannot work in the discipline. Failure to take a refresher for 2 years means that the student must take an initial again\, unless otherwise determined by applicable governing agencies. \nGENERAL INFORMATION: \nLead Risk Assessor courses offered at Chem Scope are CT DPH approved under 20-478-1 through 3. Check with individual states for any new requirements and added requirements for licensing or certification. \nLEAD REFRESHER TRAINING DESCRIPTION: \nEach refresher course reviews the curriculum topics of the full-length course listed and also: \n(i) An overview of current key safety practices relating to lead-based paint abatement in general\, as well as specific information pertaining to the appropriate discipline.\n(ii) Current laws and regulations relating to lead-based paint abatement in general\, as well as specific information pertaining to the appropriate discipline.\n(iii) Current technologies related to lead-based paint activities in general\, as well as specific information pertaining to the appropriate discipline. \nVerification of accreditation information.\nTraining providers of refresher courses must confirm that their students possess valid accreditation before granting course admission. \n  \nVirtual Training Requirements \nRequirements for attending virtual training include (1) a government-issued photo ID\, (2) a PC or Mac computer\, (3) a stable internet connection\, (4) a functioning webcam\, (5) a functioning keyboard\, and (6) a functioning mouse. Tablets will not be supported. A functional headset with microphone will be recommended. Each student must be able to download and use the most recent version of Zoom. Students must be able to type to participate in worksheet-based online hands-on activities\, or they must be able to print the worksheet\, answer by writing\, and send a picture to the instructor. \nScreenshots will be taken throughout the class to document that each student is present for the entire course. Students must arrive on time to class (typically\, 8:00 am EST). Students are also encouraged to be present in the class 30 to 15 minutes early to allow for troubleshooting. \nMany of our students will be new to virtual training. DESCRIPTION:Time: October 2\, 2024\, 7:30 am – 3:30 pm \nCost: $225 per student x 11 students = $2475 total \nLocation: In-person\, 231 Silversands Road\, East Haven\, CT 06512 or other agreed-on location. Off-site (non-Chem Scope) training locations must have a conference room with sufficient space for all participants\, internet\, electricity\, a bathroom\, and parking/access for the instructor. The instructor is responsible for her own transportation. Refreshments are not provided for off-site training. \nPrerequisite: A HAZWOPER initial course is the required 40-hour certification for persons engaged in hazardous waste operations and emergency response. This course covers site-specific requirements and information pertaining to hazardous waste sites and operations in accordance with the requirements for health and safety training in the OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.120 or 29 CFR 1926.65. This refresher training is only valid for students who have previously received a HAZWOPER initial course. \nOSHA HAZWOPER Training (1910.120): \nThe 8-hour annual refresher training required in 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(8) is conducted by qualified training providers. Refresher training includes at a minimum the following topics and procedures: \n\nReview of and retraining on relevant topics covered in the 40-hour program\, as appropriate\, using reports by the students on their work experiences.\nUpdate on developments with respect to material covered in the 40-hour course.\nReview of changes to pertinent provisions of EPA or OSHA standards or laws.\nIntroduction of additional subject areas as appropriate.\nHands-on review of new or altered PPE or decontamination equipment or procedures. Review of new developments in personal protective equipment.\nReview of newly developed air and contaminant monitoring equipment.\n\nHands-on activity participation\, full attendance of the course\, and passing a written examination are required for award of certificate. \nAdditional required training: \n\nThis off-site training does not include the three days of field experience required by 1910.120(e)(3)(i):\n\n“General site workers (such as equipment operators\, general laborers and supervisory personnel) engaged in hazardous substance removal or other activities which expose or potentially expose workers to hazardous substances and health hazards shall receive a minimum of 40 hours of instruction off the site\, and a minimum of three days actual field experience under the direct supervision of a trained\, experienced supervisor.” \n\nThis off-site training does not include the specialized training at the time of job assignment required by 1910.120(e)(4):\n\n“On-site management and supervisors directly responsible for\, or who supervise employees engaged in\, hazardous waste operations shall receive 40 hours initial training\, and three days of supervised field experience (the training may be reduced to 24 hours and one day if the only area of their responsibility is employees covered by paragraphs (e)(3)(ii) and (e)(3)(iii)) and at least eight additional hours of specialized training at the time of job assignment on such topics as\, but not limited to\, the employer’s safety and health program and the associated employee training program\, personal protective equipment program\, spill containment program\, and health hazard monitoring procedure and techniques.” \nRespirator Fit Testing \nRespirator fit testing must be conducted in person by a competent person. Prerequisite for those who wish to be fit tested is a medical approval form indicating the individual can wear a respirator and a NIOSH approved respirator. Individuals must be clean shaven in the area of the respirator seal to the face with a respirator provided by the employer. Fit testing is not included in this ticket price.
