Since Connecticut is an EPA authorized state\, the course are also EPA Accredited under EPA CFR 40 745.226 and meet requirements of OSHA 1926.62. Training is accepted in other states. Check with individual states for any new requirements and added requirements for licensing or certification. Students who successfully complete the initial course and pass a third party federal exam become eligible to be certified by DPH in this discipline. They have to meet state requirements\, submit a fee and an application. Students must have annual refresher before getting their certification renewed. \nLead Supervisor Initial Training Description: \nThe course includes lectures\, demonstrations\, at least eight hours of hands-on training\, a hands on skills assessment\, and a written examination. DESCRIPTION:Cost: $715 per session (up to 8 students) \nLocation: 8 Moulthrop Street\, North Haven\, CT \nTime: September 23\, 2024\, 8 am – 12 pm (or other agreed-on hours) \nCourse Description: \n4 Hour OSHA-EPA Asbestos Class III Operations and Maintenance Refresher OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101 and EPA 40 CFR 763.92: OSHA 1926.1101: Training for Class III employees shall be consistent with EPA requirements for training of local education agency maintenance and custodial staff as set forth at 40 CFR 763.92(a)(2). OSHA requires an annual refresher but does not specify the length or content of the refresher training. The refresher course includes a review of the topics covered in the initial course and any pertinent updates. Generally\, we follow the following outline for the refresher training: Training shall include\, but not be limited to: (i) Information regarding asbestos and its various uses and forms. (ii) Information on the health effects associated with asbestos exposure. (iii) Locations of ACBM identified throughout each building in which they work. (iv) Recognition of damage\, deterioration\, and delamination of ACBM. (v) Name and telephone number of the person designated to carry out general local education agency responsibilities under § 763.84 and the availability and location of the management plan. \nRespirator fit testing cannot be conducted unless the student has proof of prior medical approval and training. Respirators will not be provided. \nAnnual refreshers of at least four (4) hours are required by OSHA. \nRequirements for Certificate Award: A course certificate will be awarded to those who successfully complete the course. DESCRIPTION:Cost: $150 \nDPH APPROVED VIRTUAL ASBESTOS REFRESHER COURSE: \nIf a student goes passed the last refresher due date by one day\, the student cannot work in the discipline. Failure to take a refresher for 2 years requires the student to take the initial course again.  \nGeneral Description: \nAsbestos Inspector courses offered at Chem Scope are CT DPH approved and meet MAP requirements of AHERA\, ASHARA\, NESHAP\, CONES and OSHA. Students who successfully complete the initial course become EPA accredited in the particular discipline and are eligible for licensing in CT and the CONES states. \nRefresher courses are required annually in each discipline for which the student is accredited.  Refresher training for inspectors is 1/2 a day.  The inspectors and inspector / management planners must take the courses separately. All refresher courses are separate and distinct courses and not combined with any other training during the period of the refresher course. \nRefresher training includes a review and discussion of changes in and interpretation of applicable state and federal laws\, regulations\, policies and guidelines\, developments or changes in state-of-the art procedures and equipment and a review of key areas of initial training specific to each discipline.  \nVerification of accreditation information: \nTraining providers of refresher courses must confirm that their students possess valid accreditation before granting course admission. \nVirtual Training Requirements \nRequirements for attending virtual training include (1) a government-issued photo ID\, (2) a PC or Mac computer\, (3) a stable internet connection\, (4) a functioning webcam\, (5) a functioning keyboard\, and (6) a functioning mouse. Tablets will not be supported. A functional headset with microphone will be recommended. Each student must be able to download and use the most recent version of Zoom. Students must be able to type to participate in worksheet-based online hands-on activities\, or they must be able to print the worksheet\, answer by writing\, and send a picture to the instructor. \nScreenshots will be taken throughout the class to document that each student is present for the entire course. Students must arrive on time to class (typically\, 8:00 am EST). Students are also encouraged to be present in the class 30 to 15 minutes early to allow for troubleshooting. \nMany of our students will be new to virtual training.
