DESCRIPTION:2-Day Class: January 20/26\, 2026\, 8 am – 5 pm \nCost: $800 per student \nConnecticut Department of Public Health Approved Lead Initial Course: Lead Planner-Project Designer courses offered at Chem Scope are CT DPH approved under 20-478-1 through 3. Connecticut is an EPA authorized state and thus the course is also EPA accredited under CFR 40 745.226. This training may be accepted in other states. Check with individual states for any added requirements for licensing or certification. \nGENERAL INFORMATION\nPrerequisite is the 5-day lead supervisor training course. Students who successfully complete the initial course become eligible to be certified by DPH in the discipline. They have to meet state requirements and submit a fee with an application. Refresher courses are required annually to maintain active certifications. \nCourse presentation includes: Lectures\, demonstrations\, at least four hours of hands-on training\, a hands on skills assessment\, and a written examination. \n\nCancellation policy \nClass sizes are restricted. In order to provide training to people on waiting lists\, we require at least 1 business day (24 hour) notification that a student will not attend a class. Except in the case of emergencies or illness\, including illness symptoms\, quarantine\, or diagnosis\, we reserve the right to… \n\nIn the case of same-day cancellation for refresher training classes\, refuse refund and retain 100% of the price of each ticket purchased but not used by the registered party. SUMMARY:8Hour Virtual Asbestos Project Designer Refresher
DESCRIPTION:Cost: $250 \nDPH APPROVED ASBESTOS REFRESHER COURSE: \nIf a student goes passed the last refresher due date by one day\, the student cannot work in the discipline. Failure to take a refresher for 2 years requires the student to take the initial course again.  \nGeneral Description: \nAsbestos Project Designer\, Project Monitor\, Contractor/Supervisor\, Worker\, Inspector and Management Planner courses offered at Chem Scope are CT DPH Approved and meet MAP requirements of AHERA\, ASHARA\, NESHAP\, CONES and OSHA. Students who successfully complete the initial course become EPA Accredited in the particular discipline and are eligible for licensing in CT and the CONES states. \nRefresher courses are required annually in each discipline for which the student is Accredited. \nRefresher training is one day duration for asbestos abatement site supervisors\, asbestos abatement workers\, management planners\, project designers and project monitors while refresher training for inspectors is 1/2 a day. The refresher training course for management planners includes a separate 1/2 day of inspector refresher training and half 1/2 a day of refresher training for management planners. The inspectors and management planners must take the courses separately. All Refresher courses are separate and distinct courses and not combined with any other training during the period of the refresher course. \nRefresher training includes a review and discussion of changes in and interpretation of applicable state and federal laws\, regulations\, policies and guidelines\, developments or changes in state-of-the art procedures and equipment and a review of key areas of initial training specific to each discipline. In order to renew certification\, currently accredited asbestos abatement workers\, project designers and project monitors who have received certification in their disciplines by successfully completing the training program for asbestos abatement site supervisors must take the refresher training course specifically designed for their disciplines. \nVerification of accreditation information: \nTraining providers of refresher courses must confirm that their students possess valid accreditation before granting course admission. \nVirtual Training Requirements \nRequirements for attending virtual training include (1) a government-issued photo ID\, (2) a PC or Mac computer\, (3) a stable internet connection\, (4) a functioning webcam\, (5) a functioning keyboard\, and (6) a functioning mouse. Tablets will not be supported. A functional headset with microphone will be recommended. Each student must be able to download and use the most recent version of Zoom. Students must be able to type to participate in worksheet-based online hands-on activities\, or they must be able to print the worksheet\, answer by writing\, and send a picture to the instructor. \nScreenshots will be taken throughout the class to document that each student is present for the entire course. Students must arrive on time to class (typically\, 8:00 am EST). Students are also encouraged to be present in the class 30 to 15 minutes early to allow for troubleshooting. \nMany of our students will be new to virtual training. DESCRIPTION:Time: January 23\, 2026\, 8-hours\, starting at 8 am \nLocation: 19 Bernhard Rd\, North Haven\, CT 06473 \nCost: $1800 for up to 20 students per session. $160 per additional student over 20. \nLanguage: Students must be fluent in the language spoken during class. Please contact leigh@chem-scope.com for more information. \nOSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101—Roofing and Memorandum of Understanding between OSHA and National Roofing Association 3/15/95: This course is intended to train experienced roofers who may be removing intact (non-friable) asbestos containing roofing. The training is in compliance with OSHA CFR 29 1926-1101 (K)(9). An annual refresher course is required by OSHA. Information is presented on how possible asbestos roofing must be identified and how possible friable asbestos roofing can be identified. This course may not be used for EPA Accreditation or for CT DPH (Connecticut Dept. of Public Health) initial or refresher certification. A separate DPH Approved course must be taken and the individual may then apply for certification. Only asbestos certified workers and supervisors can remove non-intact (friable) roofing. In addition\, an accredited asbestos supervisor (OSHA competent persons) must be on site for evaluation and removal of intact roofing. This supervisor must take a separate 5-day DPH approved course and then apply for DPH certification. This supervisor must take a DPH approved 8 hour annual refresher to maintain certification. DPH certification must be renewed annually. For any work involving friable (non-intact) asbestos containing roofing\, the individual must take a separate DPH Approved course and then apply for certification. OSHA requires training on handling friable (non- intact ACM (asbestos containing materials) and the required material is included in this course. Because of the CT DPH regulations\, however\, persons not certified by DPH may not handle friable asbestos and therefore this aspect of the training exceeds the level of work the student will be doing. Following is the OSHA course curriculum covered in this course. (A) Methods of recognizing asbestos\, including the requirement in CFR 29 1926.1101 paragraph (k)(1) to presume that certain building materials contain asbestos; (B) The health effects associated with asbestos exposure; (C) The relationship between smoking and asbestos in producing lung cancer; (D) The nature of operations that could result in exposure to asbestos\, the importance of necessary protective controls to minimize exposure including\, as applicable\, engineering controls\, work practices\, respirators\, housekeeping procedures\, hygiene facilities\, protective clothing\, decontamination procedures\, emergency procedures\, and waste disposal procedures\, and any necessary instruction in the use of these controls and procedures (E) The purpose\, proper use\, fitting instructions\, and limitations of respirators as required by 29 CFR 1910.134; (F) The appropriate work practices for performing the asbestos job; (G) Medical surveillance program requirements; (H) The content of CFR 29 1926.1101 including appendices; (I) The names\, addresses and phone numbers of public health organizations which provide information\, materials and/ or conduct programs concerning smoking cessation. The employer may distribute the list of such organizations contained in CFR 29 1926.1101 Appendix J\, to comply with this requirement; and (J) The requirements for posting signs and affixing labels and the meaning of the required legends for such signs and labels.  \nRespirator Fit Testing \nRespirator fit testing must be conducted in person by a competent person. Prerequisite for those who wish to be fit tested is a medical approval form indicating the individual can wear a respirator and a NIOSH approved respirator. Individuals must be clean shaven in the area of the respirator seal to the face with a respirator provided by the employer. Fit testing is not included in this ticket price.
