SUMMARY:4-Hour EPA-RRP Lead Refresher Training - In Person
DESCRIPTION:Cost: $130 per student.\nEPA’s Renovation\, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP – 40 CFR 745) applies to pre-1978 housing and child-occupied facilities.\nRRP renovations conducted for compensation  must be performed by Certified Firms using Certified Renovators and lead-safe work practices. Firms may begin applying for certification prior to taking the training. Accredited training is required for one to become a Certified Renovators.\nRRP certification also meets HUD’s training requirements.\nA refresher course is needed every 5 years to maintain certification.\nRequirements for Certificate Award: A course certificate will be awarded to those who successfully complete the course. Attendance of the entire class\, demonstrating successful completion of hands-on activities\, payment and passing an exam are required.\n\n *Chem Scope\, Inc.’s training provider accreditation  pertains only to training individuals in states such as CT who do not have EPA Authorized RRP programs\, to obtain certification to conduct renovation\, repair and painting pursuant to Section 402 of the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA)(15 U.S.C. 2682). These courses do not certify one to do abatement and additional training is needed for OSHA compliance. \nVerification of accreditation: \nTraining providers must verify accreditation before admitting a student to class. \nCOVID-19\nPersons with symptoms of or a current positive test for COVID-19 may not enter the Chem Scope\, Inc. training center. \n \nOur training center policy is to follow the current CDC guidance found at cdc.gov/coronavirus along with any state or local guidance applicable to in-person training sessions.\nCancellation policy\nClass sizes are restricted. In order to provide training to people on waiting lists\, we require at least 1 business day (24 hour) notification that a student will not attend a class. Except in the case of emergencies or illness\, including COVID-19 symptoms\, quarantine\, or diagnosis\, we reserve the right to… \n\nIn the case of same-day cancellation for refresher training classes\, refuse refund and retain 100% of the price of each ticket purchased but not used by the registered party. In this case\, students will have to purchase a new ticket to attend a refresher on a different date and cannot transfer their ticket fee.\nIn the case of same-day cancellation for initial training classes\, retain a non-refundable fee equal to 50% of the price of each ticket purchased but not used by the registered party.

SUMMARY:8Hour Virtual Asbestos Project Designer Refresher
DESCRIPTION:Cost: $225 \nDPH APPROVED ASBESTOS REFRESHER COURSE: \nIf a student goes passed the last refresher due date by one day\, the student cannot work in the discipline. Failure to take a refresher for 2 years requires the student to take the initial course again.  \nGeneral Description: \nAsbestos Project Designer\, Project Monitor\, Contractor/Supervisor\, Worker\, Inspector and Management Planner courses offered at Chem Scope are CT DPH Approved and meet MAP requirements of AHERA\, ASHARA\, NESHAP\, CONES and OSHA. Students who successfully complete the initial course become EPA Accredited in the particular discipline and are eligible for licensing in CT and the CONES states. \nRefresher courses are required annually in each discipline for which the student is Accredited. \nRefresher training is one day duration for asbestos abatement site supervisors\, asbestos abatement workers\, management planners\, project designers and project monitors while refresher training for inspectors is 1/2 a day. The refresher training course for management planners includes a separate 1/2 day of inspector refresher training and half 1/2 a day of refresher training for management planners. The inspectors and management planners must take the courses separately. All Refresher courses are separate and distinct courses and not combined with any other training during the period of the refresher course. \nRefresher training includes a review and discussion of changes in and interpretation of applicable state and federal laws\, regulations\, policies and guidelines\, developments or changes in state-of-the art procedures and equipment and a review of key areas of initial training specific to each discipline. In order to renew certification\, currently accredited asbestos abatement workers\, project designers and project monitors who have received certification in their disciplines by successfully completing the training program for asbestos abatement site supervisors must take the refresher training course specifically designed for their disciplines. \nVerification of accreditation information: \nTraining providers of refresher courses must confirm that their students possess valid accreditation before granting course admission. \nVirtual Training Requirements \nRequirements for attending virtual training include (1) a government-issued photo ID\, (2) a PC or Mac computer\, (3) a stable internet connection\, (4) a functioning webcam\, (5) a functioning keyboard\, and (6) a functioning mouse. Tablets will not be supported. A functional headset with microphone will be recommended. Each student must be able to download and use the most recent version of Zoom. Students must be able to type to participate in worksheet-based online hands-on activities\, or they must be able to print the worksheet\, answer by writing\, and send a picture to the instructor. \nScreenshots will be taken throughout the class to document that each student is present for the entire course. Students must arrive on time to class (typically\, 8:00 am EST). Students are also encouraged to be present in the class 30 to 15 minutes early to allow for troubleshooting. \nMany of our students will be new to virtual training.
