SUMMARY:8-Hour Virtual Asbestos Project Monitor Refresher
DESCRIPTION:Cost: $250 \nDPH APPROVED ASBESTOS REFRESHER COURSE: \nIf a student goes passed the last refresher due date by one day\, the student cannot work in the discipline. Failure to take a refresher for 2 years requires the student to take the initial course again.  \nGeneral Description: \nAsbestos Project Monitor courses offered at Chem Scope are CT DPH Approved and meet MAP requirements of AHERA\, ASHARA\, NESHAP\, CONES and OSHA. Students who successfully complete the initial course become EPA Accredited in the particular discipline and are eligible for licensing in CT and the CONES states. \nRefresher courses are required annually in each discipline for which the student is accredited.  Refresher training includes a review and discussion of changes in and interpretation of applicable state and federal laws\, regulations\, policies and guidelines\, developments or changes in state-of-the art procedures and equipment and a review of key areas of initial training specific to each discipline.  \nVerification of accreditation information: Training providers of refresher courses must confirm that their students possess valid accreditation before granting course admission. \nVirtual Training Requirements \nRequirements for attending virtual training include (1) a government-issued photo ID\, (2) a PC or Mac computer\, (3) a stable internet connection\, (4) a functioning webcam\, (5) a functioning keyboard\, and (6) a functioning mouse. Tablets will not be supported. A functional headset with microphone will be recommended. Each student must be able to download and use the most recent version of Zoom. Students must be able to type to participate in worksheet-based online hands-on activities\, or they must be able to print the worksheet\, answer by writing\, and send a picture to the instructor. \nScreenshots will be taken throughout the class to document that each student is present for the entire course. Students must arrive on time to class (typically\, 8:00 am EST). Students are also encouraged to be present in the class 30 to 15 minutes early to allow for troubleshooting. \nMany of our students will be new to virtual training. If you have questions or concerns about whether virtual training is right for you\, please contact our training instructor Leigh Elijah (leigh@chem-scope.com).  \n\nCancellation policy\nClass sizes are restricted. In order to provide training to people on waiting lists\, we require at least 1 business day (24 hour) notification that a student will not attend a class. Except in the case of emergencies or illness\, including illness symptoms\, quarantine\, or diagnosis\, we reserve the right to… \n\nIn the case of same-day cancellation for refresher training classes\, refuse refund and retain 100% of the price of each ticket purchased but not used by the registered party. In this case\, students will have to purchase a new ticket to attend a refresher on a different date and cannot transfer their ticket fee.\nIn the case of same-day cancellation for initial training classes\, retain a non-refundable fee equal to 50% of the price of each ticket purchased but not used by the registered party.

SUMMARY:In-Person 4-Hour OSHA Class 3 Operations and Maintenance Refresher
DESCRIPTION:Cost: $715 per session\, up to 8 students \nLocation: 8 Moulthrop Street\, North Haven\, CT \nTime: Thursday\, August 14\, 2025\, 8 am – 12 pm \nCourse Description: \nAll attendees must provide evidence of previous 16-hour initial Class III training\, not older than 2 years\, unless Chem Scope already has this information on record from a previous training. \n4-Hour OSHA-EPA Asbestos Class III Operations and Maintenance Refresher OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101 and EPA 40 CFR 763.92: OSHA 1926.1101: Training for Class III employees shall be consistent with EPA requirements for training of local education agency maintenance and custodial staff as set forth at 40 CFR 763.92(a)(2). OSHA requires an annual refresher but does not specify the length or content of the refresher training. The refresher course includes a review of the topics covered in the initial course and any pertinent updates. Generally\, we follow the following outline for the refresher training: Training shall include\, but not be limited to: (i) Information regarding asbestos and its various uses and forms. (ii) Information on the health effects associated with asbestos exposure. (iii) Locations of ACBM identified throughout each building in which they work. (iv) Recognition of damage\, deterioration\, and delamination of ACBM. (v) Name and telephone number of the person designated to carry out general local education agency responsibilities under § 763.84 and the availability and location of the management plan. \nRespirator fit testing cannot be conducted unless the student has proof of prior medical approval and training. Respirators will not be provided. \nAnnual refreshers of at least four (4) hours are required by OSHA. \nRequirements for Certificate Award: A course certificate will be awarded to those who successfully complete the course.
