DESCRIPTION:Cost: $715 per session\, up to 8 students \nLocation: 8 Moulthrop Street\, North Haven\, CT \nTime: Thursday\, August 14\, 2025\, 8 am – 12 pm \nCourse Description: \nAll attendees must provide evidence of previous 16-hour initial Class III training\, not older than 2 years\, unless Chem Scope already has this information on record from a previous training. \n4-Hour OSHA-EPA Asbestos Class III Operations and Maintenance Refresher OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101 and EPA 40 CFR 763.92: OSHA 1926.1101: Training for Class III employees shall be consistent with EPA requirements for training of local education agency maintenance and custodial staff as set forth at 40 CFR 763.92(a)(2). OSHA requires an annual refresher but does not specify the length or content of the refresher training. The refresher course includes a review of the topics covered in the initial course and any pertinent updates. Generally\, we follow the following outline for the refresher training: Training shall include\, but not be limited to: (i) Information regarding asbestos and its various uses and forms. (ii) Information on the health effects associated with asbestos exposure. (iii) Locations of ACBM identified throughout each building in which they work. (iv) Recognition of damage\, deterioration\, and delamination of ACBM. (v) Name and telephone number of the person designated to carry out general local education agency responsibilities under § 763.84 and the availability and location of the management plan. \nRespirator fit testing cannot be conducted unless the student has proof of prior medical approval and training. Respirators will not be provided. \nAnnual refreshers of at least four (4) hours are required by OSHA. \nRequirements for Certificate Award: A course certificate will be awarded to those who successfully complete the course. Students who successfully complete the initial course become EPA Accredited and are eligible for licensing in CT and the CONES states (Consortium of New England States). \nCT Department of Public Health Public Health Code 20-440 Asbestos Management Planner Scope of Certification: Authorizes a licensed asbestos consultant to utilize information developed from facility inspections to assess potential hazards of ACM; to develop abatement response actions\, operations and maintenance plans; to select and recommend abatement actions; and\, to perform duties within the scope of certification as an inspector. \nQualifications: Applicants shall hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in engineering\, architecture\, industrial hygiene or an environmental science degree as determined by the commissioner to be closely related\, including but not limited to environmental health\, biology\, and earth science. Applicants shall have a minimum of six months experience in asbestos abatement\, including experience in asbestos management or three months of field experience under the supervision of a licensed asbestos consultant certified as a management planner. Applicants shall have successfully completed training requirements as set forth in subdivision 20-440-7(c)(5) of the regulations of Connecticut State Agencies and be certified as an Asbestos Inspector. \nDPH APPROVED ASBESTOS MANAGEMENT PLANNER INITIAL COURSE: This is a 2 day initial course. The initial management planner training course includes lectures\, demonstrations\, course- review and a written examination. Prerequisite is the 3 day Inspector course. Regulations do not stipulate a time limit between the dates of the inspector training and the management planner course. Refresher courses are required annually to maintain certification.
