SUMMARY:8-Hour Virtual Asbestos Supervisor Refresher
DESCRIPTION:Cost: $160 \nDPH APPROVED ASBESTOS REFRESHER COURSE: \nApplies to interior asbestos work and friable exterior asbestos work. Required for maintaining EPA accreditation and State DPH license for anyone supervising disturbance of > 3 square or 3 linear feet of asbestos. \nGeneral Description: \nAsbestos Contractor/Supervisor courses offered at Chem Scope are CT DPH approved and meet MAP requirements of AHERA\, ASHARA\, NESHAP\, CONES and OSHA.  \nRefresher training is required annually under typical circumstances. \nIf a student goes passed the last refresher due date by one day\, the student cannot work in the discipline. DESCRIPTION:Cost: $260 per student.\n\n\nEPA’s Renovation\, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP – 40 CFR 745) applies to pre-1978 housing and/or child occupied facilities (child occupied facilities largely refers to nursery schools\, kindergartens and day cares).\n\n\nRRP renovations\, conducted for compensation\, must be performed by Certified Firms using Certified Renovators and lead-safe work practices. Firms may begin applying for certification prior to taking the training. Accredited training is required for one to become a Certified Renovator.\n\nRRP certification also meets HUD’s training requirements.\n\n\n\n\n A refresher course is needed every 5 years to maintain certification.\n\n\nRequirements for Certificate Award: A course certificate will be awarded to those who successfully complete the course. DESCRIPTION:Time: May 21\, 2025\, 8 am \nCost: $225 per student \nPrerequisite: A HAZWOPER initial course is the required 40-hour certification for persons engaged in hazardous waste operations and emergency response. This course covers site-specific requirements and information pertaining to hazardous waste sites and operations in accordance with the requirements for health and safety training in the OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.120 or 29 CFR 1926.65. This refresher training is only valid for students who have previously received a HAZWOPER initial course. \nOSHA HAZWOPER Training (1910.120): \nThe 8-hour annual refresher training required in 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(8) is conducted by qualified training providers. Refresher training includes at a minimum the following topics and procedures: \n\nReview of and retraining on relevant topics covered in the 40-hour program\, as appropriate\, using reports by the students on their work experiences.\nUpdate on developments with respect to material covered in the 40-hour course.\nReview of changes to pertinent provisions of EPA or OSHA standards or laws.\nIntroduction of additional subject areas as appropriate.\nHands-on review of new or altered PPE or decontamination equipment or procedures. Prerequisite for those who wish to be fit tested is a medical approval form indicating the individual can wear a respirator and a NIOSH approved respirator. DESCRIPTION:Five Day Class:  \n\nFriday-May 2nd\, Monday-May 5th through Thursday-May 8th\, 2025\n\nCost: $825 \nGeneral Description: Asbestos Project Monitor courses offered at Chem Scope are CT DPH Approved and meet MAP requirements of AHERA\, ASHARA\, NESHAP\, CONES and OSHA. Students who successfully complete the initial course become EPA Accredited in the particular discipline and are eligible for licensing in CT and the CONES states. \nScope of Certification: Certification as a project monitor authorizes a licensed asbestos consultant to function in the capacity of on-site representative of the facility owner or other persons\, interpret project specifications or abatement management plans\, monitor and evaluate contractor or employee compliance with applicable regulations or specifications and ensure that abatement projects are properly conducted and completed. The project monitor shall not also function as the asbestos contractor or as an employee of the asbestos contractor on the same asbestos abatement project for which he is the project monitor. \nQualifications: Applicants shall hold either an associate’s or a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in engineering\, architecture\, industrial hygiene or an environmental science degree as determined by the commissioner to be closely related\, including but not limited to environmental health\, biology\, and earth science. Applicants shall have a minimum of one year experience in asbestos abatement\, including experience in asbestos abatement project monitoring or six months field experience under the supervision of a licensed asbestos consultant certified as a project monitor. Applicants shall have successfully completed the training requirements as set forth in subdivision 20-440-7(c)(7) of the regulations of Connecticut State Agencies. \nCOVID-19 \nChem Scope\, Inc. updates its COVID-19 safety protocol regularly to comply with the current state and federal guidance. By attending class during the COVID-19 pandemic\, students agree to follow current local and federal regulations and Chem Scope\, Inc. safety protocols. DESCRIPTION:Cost: $260 per student.\n\n\nEPA’s Renovation\, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP – 40 CFR 745) applies to pre-1978 housing and/or child occupied facilities (child occupied facilities largely refers to nursery schools\, kindergartens and day cares).\n\n\nRRP renovations\, conducted for compensation\, must be performed by Certified Firms using Certified Renovators and lead-safe work practices. Firms may begin applying for certification prior to taking the training. Accredited training is required for one to become a Certified Renovator.\n\nRRP certification also meets HUD’s training requirements.\n\n\n\n\n A refresher course is needed every 5 years to maintain certification.\n\n\nRequirements for Certificate Award: A course certificate will be awarded to those who successfully complete the course.
