DESCRIPTION:Cost: $130 per student.\nEPA’s Renovation\, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP – 40 CFR 745) applies to pre-1978 housing and child-occupied facilities.\nRRP renovations conducted for compensation  must be performed by Certified Firms using Certified Renovators and lead-safe work practices. Firms may begin applying for certification prior to taking the training. Accredited training is required for one to become a Certified Renovators.\nRRP certification also meets HUD’s training requirements.\nA refresher course is needed every 5 years to maintain certification.\nRequirements for Certificate Award: A course certificate will be awarded to those who successfully complete the course. Attendance of the entire class\, demonstrating successful completion of hands-on activities\, payment and passing an exam are required.\n\n *Chem Scope\, Inc.’s training provider accreditation  pertains only to training individuals in states such as CT who do not have EPA Authorized RRP programs\, to obtain certification to conduct renovation\, repair and painting pursuant to Section 402 of the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA)(15 U.S.C. 2682). SUMMARY:8Hour Virtual Asbestos Inspector/Management Planner Refresher
DESCRIPTION:Cost: $225 \nPLEASE NOTE: Attendee must be a Management Planner to enroll in this class. \nDPH APPROVED ASBESTOS REFRESHER COURSE: \nIf a student goes passed the last refresher due date by one day\, the student cannot work in the discipline. Failure to take a refresher for 2 years requires the student to take the initial course again.  \nGeneral Description: \nAsbestos Inspector / Management Planner courses offered at Chem Scope are CT DPH approved and meet MAP requirements of AHERA\, ASHARA\, NESHAP\, CONES and OSHA. Students who successfully complete the initial course become EPA accredited for the discipline and are eligible for licensing in CT and the CONES states. \nThe refresher training course for asbestos / management planners includes a 1/2 day of inspector refresher training and half 1/2 a day of management planner refresher training. The inspectors and inspector / management planners must take the courses separately. All refresher courses are separate and distinct courses and not combined with any other training during the period of the refresher course. \nRefresher training includes a review and discussion of changes in and interpretation of applicable state and federal laws\, regulations\, policies and guidelines\, developments or changes in state-of-the art procedures and equipment and a review of key areas of initial training specific to each discipline.  \nVerification of accreditation information \nTraining providers of refresher courses must confirm that their students possess valid accreditation before granting course admission. \nVirtual Training Requirements \nRequirements for attending virtual training include (1) a government-issued photo ID\, (2) a PC or Mac computer\, (3) a stable internet connection\, (4) a functioning webcam\, (5) a functioning keyboard\, and (6) a functioning mouse. Tablets will not be supported. A functional headset with microphone will be recommended. Each student must be able to download and use the most recent version of Zoom. Students must be able to type to participate in worksheet-based online hands-on activities\, or they must be able to print the worksheet\, answer by writing\, and send a picture to the instructor. \nScreenshots will be taken throughout the class to document that each student is present for the entire course. Students must arrive on time to class (typically\, 8:00 am EST). Students are also encouraged to be present in the class 30 to 15 minutes early to allow for troubleshooting. \nMany of our students will be new to virtual training. Students must be fluent in English. \nOSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101—Roofing and Memorandum of Understanding between OSHA and National Roofing Association 3/15/95: This course is intended to train experienced roofers who may be removing intact (non-friable) asbestos containing roofing. The training is in compliance with OSHA CFR 29 1926-1101 (K)(9). An annual refresher course is required by OSHA. Information is presented on how possible asbestos roofing must be identified and how possible friable asbestos roofing can be identified. This course may not be used for EPA Accreditation or for CT DPH (Connecticut Dept. of Public Health) initial or refresher certification. A separate DPH Approved course must be taken and the individual may then apply for certification. Only asbestos certified workers and supervisors can remove non-intact (friable) roofing. In addition\, an accredited asbestos supervisor (OSHA competent persons) must be on site for evaluation and removal of intact roofing. This supervisor must take a separate 5-day DPH approved course and then apply for DPH certification. This supervisor must take a DPH approved 8 hour annual refresher to maintain certification. DPH certification must be renewed annually. For any work involving friable (non-intact) asbestos containing roofing\, the individual must take a separate DPH Approved course and then apply for certification. OSHA requires training on handling friable (non- intact ACM (asbestos containing materials) and the required material is included in this course. Because of the CT DPH regulations\, however\, persons not certified by DPH may not handle friable asbestos and therefore this aspect of the training exceeds the level of work the student will be doing. Following is the OSHA course curriculum covered in this course. Required for EPA accreditation and State DPH license for anyone supervising disturbance of > 3 square or 3 linear feet of asbestos. \nGENERAL DESCRIPTION: \nThis is a five day training course that includes lectures\, demonstrations\, at least fourteen (14) hours of hands-on training\, course review\, and a written examination.  Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor courses offered at Chem Scope are CT DPH approved and meet MAP requirements of AHERA\, ASHARA\, NESHAP\, CONES and OSHA.  Refresher courses are required annually for those who are active in the field.  All courses are separate and distinct courses and cannot combined with any other training during the period of the course.  \n\nCOVID-19\nPersons with symptoms of or a current positive test for COVID-19 may not enter the Chem Scope\, Inc. training center. \n \nOur training center policy is to follow the current CDC guidance found at cdc.gov/coronavirus along with any state or local guidance applicable to in-person training sessions.\nCancellation policy\nClass sizes are restricted. Failure to take a refresher for 2 years requires the student to take the initial course again.  \nGeneral Description: \nAsbestos Inspector courses offered at Chem Scope are CT DPH approved and meet MAP requirements of AHERA\, ASHARA\, NESHAP\, CONES and OSHA. Students who successfully complete the initial course become EPA accredited in the particular discipline and are eligible for licensing in CT and the CONES states. \nRefresher courses are required annually in each discipline for which the student is accredited.  Refresher training for inspectors is 1/2 a day.  The inspectors and inspector / management planners must take the courses separately. All refresher courses are separate and distinct courses and not combined with any other training during the period of the refresher course. \nRefresher training includes a review and discussion of changes in and interpretation of applicable state and federal laws\, regulations\, policies and guidelines\, developments or changes in state-of-the art procedures and equipment and a review of key areas of initial training specific to each discipline.  \nVerification of accreditation information: \nTraining providers of refresher courses must confirm that their students possess valid accreditation before granting course admission. \nVirtual Training Requirements \nRequirements for attending virtual training include (1) a government-issued photo ID\, (2) a PC or Mac computer\, (3) a stable internet connection\, (4) a functioning webcam\, (5) a functioning keyboard\, and (6) a functioning mouse. Tablets will not be supported. A functional headset with microphone will be recommended. Each student must be able to download and use the most recent version of Zoom. Students must be able to type to participate in worksheet-based online hands-on activities\, or they must be able to print the worksheet\, answer by writing\, and send a picture to the instructor. \nScreenshots will be taken throughout the class to document that each student is present for the entire course. Students must arrive on time to class (typically\, 8:00 am EST). Students are also encouraged to be present in the class 30 to 15 minutes early to allow for troubleshooting. \nMany of our students will be new to virtual training.
