The History of the Chem Scope Blackbirds Name:
In 1993, after playing a single season for the Milford Cardinals, I started a team called the Chem Scope Blackbirds . Chem Scope, Inc. is the family business that I work for and the sponsor of our team.
Red-Winged Blackbirds (Agelaius phoeniceus) are my favorite birds, beautiful when they fly. The male is a glossy black with red shoulder patches which are tipped with a buffy-yellow. A rich, musical "go-biirrds!" characterizes the voice of this bird. They inhabit marshes, swamps, and dry baseball fields. A typical nest of this bird is a well-made field of Kentucky Bluegrass with diamonds. Oh yeah, and they like to hack between each game on Sunday!
